Artists dedicate years to mastering their craft. When you purchase human-made art, you're supporting real people's livelihoods and the authentic creative process.
Many AI art generators are trained on artists' work without permission or compensation, raising serious ethical concerns about copyright and fair compensation.
Human art carries cultural significance, personal expression, and lived experience that algorithms simply cannot replicate, regardless of technical sophistication.
By signing this pledge, you help ensure that the art market continues to value and reward human creativity, skill, and innovation.

For the purposes of this pledge, "AI art" refers to images primarily generated by text-to-image AI models like DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT, and similar technologies. This pledge focuses on supporting human-made art, not on specific definitions of AI tools.
Not at all. The pledge distinguishes between art created by humans using digital tools (like Photoshop, Procreate, 3D modeling software, etc.), or physical art generated by hand, and art generated by AI from text prompts. Digital and Physical art created by human artists is absolutely included in what we consider "human-made art".
We recognize that creativity exists on a spectrum. This pledge encourages supporting art where the primary creative expression and execution comes from humans, rather than being primarily generated by algorithms. Artists who thoughtfully incorporate AI as one element of their broader human-directed process are still creating human art.
Ask the seller! Most artists are happy to discuss their process. Look for artists with established portfolios showing consistent style development over time. When buying online, check seller profiles and reviews. Many artists and marketplaces are now explicitly labeling whether works are AI-generated or human-made.
